Narrative:

We were taxiing in to gate. We had just finished waiting a couple of mins in the alley waiting on the marshalers. The captain then proceeded in normally. He had begun to slow aircraft in anticipation of marshaler giving him the stop command when the jetway contacted the #1 engine cowling. The marshaler never did give the approaching stop or stop command until we had already stopped. Marshaler was inexperienced. Jetway in wrong position for aircraft type and lacked any markings to show proper position.
