Narrative:

Upon arrival from ord to dtw, we taxied into the ramp for gate a dtw. We were picked up by taxi director and directed by wands to the parking spot. About 30' short of parking spot the director gave a stop signal followed by shut down engines. I set the brakes, shut down the engines and then opened the left cockpit window. I leaned out and looked back at the left wing tip. I observed the left forward tip of my left wing tip had contacted the right rear tip of another parked large transport aircraft at adjacent gate.
