Narrative:

Working in the engine shop we received a callout to replace a pair of blades. The engine was a spare in the shop. We replaced the blade per the maintenance manual. We did, however, use the wrong paperwork and did not call out a power run. The paperwork we used was for a -6 engine and no run is required unless 4 blade sets are replaced. On a -50, a power run will be done with any blade change. The problem was discovered when the aircraft the engine was hung on developed an engine vibration. The paperwork was checked and they discovered that the blades were changed but no run was done. It was discovered that the starter had fallen off and the starter duct broken. Both were replaced and the high power run accomplished with no vibration noted. We simply use the wrong paperwork for the job. We confused a -6 and a -50.

Title: A DC10-30 WAS RELEASED FOR SVC AFTER AN ENG CHANGE WITH THE REQUIRED FAN VIBRATION CHK FOR BLADE REPLACEMENT NOT ACCOMPLISHED.

ON A -50, A PWR RUN WILL BE DONE WITH ANY BLADE CHANGE. THE PROB WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE ACFT THE ENG WAS HUNG ON DEVELOPED AN ENG VIBRATION. THE PAPERWORK WAS CHKED AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE BLADES WERE CHANGED BUT NO RUN WAS DONE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STARTER HAD FALLEN OFF AND THE STARTER DUCT BROKEN. BOTH WERE REPLACED AND THE HIGH PWR RUN ACCOMPLISHED WITH NO VIBRATION NOTED. WE SIMPLY USE THE WRONG PAPERWORK FOR THE JOB. WE CONFUSED A -6 AND A -50.
