Narrative:

Air carrier X departed cae, proceeding direc tyi, climbing to FL210, passed through the southeast corner of sector 27 with no pointout. Aircraft called us, we started looking for it and found him in our sector west/O a handoff or pointout. ZJX must have thought it handed off to us, but the computer had handed the tag off to sector 26 (the next sector on the aircraft's route). Air carrier X was out of 17800' climbing to 21000' when he called us, 10 mi inside the sector boundary. We never received strips on the flight and were not looking for him.
