Narrative:

On thur evening on a VFR flight from salinas to fritche, I looked at the san francisco sectional for the frequency for fritche army airfield. On the map the frequency was 126.2. I called fritche for runway information, but got no answer. I then thought the tower was closed because salinas had closed. I used the same frequency to call fritche traffic, but got no answer either. So, I thought the field was deserted so I made a straight in for final on runway 29 and didn't notice anything unusual. After making a touch and go I made right traffic for 29 again and I noticed a red light coming from the tower, so I left the area and headed back for monterey. When I called monterey approach for clearance, they told me to contact fritche on 125.15. I contacted them and they chewed me out. Suggestions: from now on make sure my sectionals are current and review far's concerning controled and uncontrolled airspace.

Title: GA SMA UNAUTH PENETRATION OF ATA AND UNAUTH LNDG AT MIL ARPT.

Narrative: ON THUR EVENING ON A VFR FLT FROM SALINAS TO FRITCHE, I LOOKED AT THE SAN FRANCISCO SECTIONAL FOR THE FREQ FOR FRITCHE ARMY AIRFIELD. ON THE MAP THE FREQ WAS 126.2. I CALLED FRITCHE FOR RWY INFO, BUT GOT NO ANSWER. I THEN THOUGHT THE TWR WAS CLOSED BECAUSE SALINAS HAD CLOSED. I USED THE SAME FREQ TO CALL FRITCHE TFC, BUT GOT NO ANSWER EITHER. SO, I THOUGHT THE FIELD WAS DESERTED SO I MADE A STRAIGHT IN FOR FINAL ON RWY 29 AND DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING UNUSUAL. AFTER MAKING A TOUCH AND GO I MADE RIGHT TFC FOR 29 AGAIN AND I NOTICED A RED LIGHT COMING FROM THE TWR, SO I LEFT THE AREA AND HEADED BACK FOR MONTEREY. WHEN I CALLED MONTEREY APCH FOR CLRNC, THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT FRITCHE ON 125.15. I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY CHEWED ME OUT. SUGGESTIONS: FROM NOW ON MAKE SURE MY SECTIONALS ARE CURRENT AND REVIEW FAR'S CONCERNING CTLED AND UNCTLED AIRSPACE.
