Narrative:

On 9/88 we called for taxi, was cleared to taxi to 28L. While taxiing we briefed the passengers, which takes quite a long time, since we have to brief on more things than part 121. While PA is in use loudspeakers are cut out. En route we were called by ground to hold short of runway 23, but did not hear it although we unkeyed the microphone several times so that we would not miss xmissions. To prevent this from happening again I now wear a headset, which are not cut out when PA is in use.
