Narrative:
I was working the fremont radar position. We were using a back-up frequency; because another sector was using ours. The frequency that was assigned to the sector did not cover the entire sector. Multiple aircraft were trying to read back clrncs; and I was not able to hear them. I was informed by other pilots that the clrncs were being read back; but I could not hear them. We used to have a back-up frequency that provided coverage; but that frequency was taken away from us.
