Narrative:
On dec/tue/04 at approximately XY00Z, I landed at apa airport. They were quite busy as they sometimes are. I was cleared to land runway 35R. On short final, (1 mi or less) that clearance was canceled and I was cleared to land runway 35L. After landing, I cleared the runway at intersection B12 and called ground control and was told to continue to taxi on taxiway B. At intersection B8, I stopped to ask if I should taxi on taxiway B8 to the ramp. I received no response. I realized that inadvertently I was off frequency. The time period in my estimation was 30-45 seconds. The controller was quite upset and then cleared me to taxi to the end of taxiway B, turn right, and hold short of runway 35R. I failed to read back the clearance which I know that I am supposed to. At that point I received what I conceived as a tongue lashing from the controller (maybe I deserved). Upon reaching the end of taxiway B, I turned right and ran into the hold short line. The hold short line is very close and by making a full 90 degree turn you will probably be on the hold short line. The controller issued a stop command. I should have been more alert and observing. I was not expecting the hold short line to be that close to the turn and that far from the runway. Bottom line: I did breech the hold short line. I was given a phone number to call when I reached the ramp. The person that I talked to was very courteous and explained how we all are interested in safety. I would suggest that the hold short line at the north end of taxiway B be reassessed as to its location and how well it is defined.

Title: AFTER LNDG APA ON RWY 35L AND TAXIING AS INSTRUCTED, A PA31 PLT STOPS JUST PAST THE RWY 35R HOLD SHORT LINE.
Narrative: ON DEC/TUE/04 AT APPROX XY00Z, I LANDED AT APA ARPT. THEY WERE QUITE BUSY AS THEY SOMETIMES ARE. I WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 35R. ON SHORT FINAL, (1 MI OR LESS) THAT CLRNC WAS CANCELED AND I WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 35L. AFTER LNDG, I CLRED THE RWY AT INTXN B12 AND CALLED GND CTL AND WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE TO TAXI ON TXWY B. AT INTXN B8, I STOPPED TO ASK IF I SHOULD TAXI ON TXWY B8 TO THE RAMP. I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. I REALIZED THAT INADVERTENTLY I WAS OFF FREQ. THE TIME PERIOD IN MY ESTIMATION WAS 30-45 SECONDS. THE CTLR WAS QUITE UPSET AND THEN CLRED ME TO TAXI TO THE END OF TXWY B, TURN R, AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 35R. I FAILED TO READ BACK THE CLRNC WHICH I KNOW THAT I AM SUPPOSED TO. AT THAT POINT I RECEIVED WHAT I CONCEIVED AS A TONGUE LASHING FROM THE CTLR (MAYBE I DESERVED). UPON REACHING THE END OF TXWY B, I TURNED R AND RAN INTO THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE HOLD SHORT LINE IS VERY CLOSE AND BY MAKING A FULL 90 DEG TURN YOU WILL PROBABLY BE ON THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE CTLR ISSUED A STOP COMMAND. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ALERT AND OBSERVING. I WAS NOT EXPECTING THE HOLD SHORT LINE TO BE THAT CLOSE TO THE TURN AND THAT FAR FROM THE RWY. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE HOLD SHORT LINE AT THE N END OF TXWY B BE REASSESSED AS TO ITS LOCATION AND HOW WELL IT IS DEFINED.
