Narrative:

I believe the temporary procedure instructions for runway 34L at tokyo-narita may be incorrect. The instructions on the 20-7A page and the performance data say to intercept the nre 336 degree radial, track it outbound and then hold at the nre 15 DME fix. We are supposed to hold southeast of that fix (nre 336 degree radial, 15 DME) (l-hand turns). I don't believe you can hold southeast of that fix while doing l-hand turns. We tried building the prescribed hold on the hold page of the FMC (using a fix described at the nre 336 degree radial, 15 DME) and no combination of radial, turn and quadrant entries would give us the directed procedure. Holding southeast would give r-hand turns, doing l-hand turns would give us a hold in the southwest quadrant of the fix while holding on the nre 336 degree radial. We could not intuitively build the hold using a direct teardrop or parallel entry either. I might have overlooked something, but I believe you can either do l-hand turns at that fix, or hold southeast of the fix (while remaining on the nre 335 degree radial), but not both.

Title: AN ACR ENG OUT PROC ON TOKYO-NARITA RWY 34L MAY BE INCORRECTLY DESCRIBED.

Narrative: I BELIEVE THE TEMPORARY PROC INSTRUCTIONS FOR RWY 34L AT TOKYO-NARITA MAY BE INCORRECT. THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE 20-7A PAGE AND THE PERFORMANCE DATA SAY TO INTERCEPT THE NRE 336 DEG RADIAL, TRACK IT OUTBOUND AND THEN HOLD AT THE NRE 15 DME FIX. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SE OF THAT FIX (NRE 336 DEG RADIAL, 15 DME) (L-HAND TURNS). I DON'T BELIEVE YOU CAN HOLD SE OF THAT FIX WHILE DOING L-HAND TURNS. WE TRIED BUILDING THE PRESCRIBED HOLD ON THE HOLD PAGE OF THE FMC (USING A FIX DESCRIBED AT THE NRE 336 DEG RADIAL, 15 DME) AND NO COMBINATION OF RADIAL, TURN AND QUADRANT ENTRIES WOULD GIVE US THE DIRECTED PROC. HOLDING SE WOULD GIVE R-HAND TURNS, DOING L-HAND TURNS WOULD GIVE US A HOLD IN THE SW QUADRANT OF THE FIX WHILE HOLDING ON THE NRE 336 DEG RADIAL. WE COULD NOT INTUITIVELY BUILD THE HOLD USING A DIRECT TEARDROP OR PARALLEL ENTRY EITHER. I MIGHT HAVE OVERLOOKED SOMETHING, BUT I BELIEVE YOU CAN EITHER DO L-HAND TURNS AT THAT FIX, OR HOLD SE OF THE FIX (WHILE REMAINING ON THE NRE 335 DEG RADIAL), BUT NOT BOTH.
