Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: this incident was one of several similar ones listed as previous occurrences in the aircraft logbook. The resolution to this one was accomplished by replacement of a gear position sensor by maintenance. The aircraft has been flown several times since by the reporter with no problems noted. The reporter has no knowledge of similar incidents on other aircraft in the carrier's fleet.
