Narrative:

As #2 flight attendant, I am responsible for arming and disarming both 2L/2R doors. After arming these doors, I called the #1 flight attendant (purser) to let her know they were armed. Taxi out, video was played. We sat down for takeoff. Everything seemed normal. We were about to rotate when we aborted takeoff and came to an abrupt stop on the runway. First officer came over the PA to say we were going back to the gate and a 'door light' had come on during our rollout. Upon arrival at the gate, I disarmed 2L&right and called the purser again. About 10 mins later, the mechanic came to the aft galley and asked me which door was the aft entry door. When I pointed to 2L, I noticed the handle unlevel -- about 1-2 inches from being horizontal. We think the door handle was up about 1/2 - 1 inch, therefore, going unnoticed by the #4 flight attendant and myself. That door had been used by catering. It was also not indicated as being open in the cockpit. When we started our roll, the light came on due to vibration in the rear of the aircraft. Even upon disarming the door, I was not aware that it was my 'door light' that had been on. The handle was not visibly noticeable until later. There was a slight play in the handle noted by the mechanic. It had to be raised about 2 inches before the light came on in the cockpit. As a result, I now tell everyone on the B737 to check the door handles and push down on them when arming the doors.

Title: A B737-800 FLT ATTENDANT RPT ON A HIGH SPD ABORTED TKOF DUE TO AN UNSECURED L2 DOOR WITH A MALFUNCTIONING HANDLE AT MIA, FL.

Narrative: AS #2 FLT ATTENDANT, I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR ARMING AND DISARMING BOTH 2L/2R DOORS. AFTER ARMING THESE DOORS, I CALLED THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT (PURSER) TO LET HER KNOW THEY WERE ARMED. TAXI OUT, VIDEO WAS PLAYED. WE SAT DOWN FOR TKOF. EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. WE WERE ABOUT TO ROTATE WHEN WE ABORTED TKOF AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP ON THE RWY. FO CAME OVER THE PA TO SAY WE WERE GOING BACK TO THE GATE AND A 'DOOR LIGHT' HAD COME ON DURING OUR ROLLOUT. UPON ARR AT THE GATE, I DISARMED 2L&R AND CALLED THE PURSER AGAIN. ABOUT 10 MINS LATER, THE MECH CAME TO THE AFT GALLEY AND ASKED ME WHICH DOOR WAS THE AFT ENTRY DOOR. WHEN I POINTED TO 2L, I NOTICED THE HANDLE UNLEVEL -- ABOUT 1-2 INCHES FROM BEING HORIZ. WE THINK THE DOOR HANDLE WAS UP ABOUT 1/2 - 1 INCH, THEREFORE, GOING UNNOTICED BY THE #4 FLT ATTENDANT AND MYSELF. THAT DOOR HAD BEEN USED BY CATERING. IT WAS ALSO NOT INDICATED AS BEING OPEN IN THE COCKPIT. WHEN WE STARTED OUR ROLL, THE LIGHT CAME ON DUE TO VIBRATION IN THE REAR OF THE ACFT. EVEN UPON DISARMING THE DOOR, I WAS NOT AWARE THAT IT WAS MY 'DOOR LIGHT' THAT HAD BEEN ON. THE HANDLE WAS NOT VISIBLY NOTICEABLE UNTIL LATER. THERE WAS A SLIGHT PLAY IN THE HANDLE NOTED BY THE MECH. IT HAD TO BE RAISED ABOUT 2 INCHES BEFORE THE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE COCKPIT. AS A RESULT, I NOW TELL EVERYONE ON THE B737 TO CHK THE DOOR HANDLES AND PUSH DOWN ON THEM WHEN ARMING THE DOORS.
