Narrative:

FAA inspector examined maintenance logbook at the gate in portland and noticed the deferred items list was missing (operations manual requirement only -- not far). We inspected the logbook earlier in the day and the deferred items list was in place, so I am not sure when or how it disappeared. This list is advisory in nature and I recommend the operations manual be changed to delete this requirement.

Title: AN FAA INSPECTOR FINDS A COMPANY REQUIRED LIST OF DEFERRED ITEMS IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ACFT LOG. THE CREW HAVING SEEN THE LIST PREVIOUSLY QUESTIONS THE REQUIREMENT.
