Narrative:

During expedited descent for landing, autoplt failed to capture altitude, resulting in a 300 ft (low) deviation from assigned altitude. We were both distraction by finishing checklist and setting navaids. I noticed the descent at assigned altitude, but it took 300 ft to stop descent. Someone always needs to monitor automation.
