Narrative:

We were given a clearance to descend to 9000 ft from 10000 ft. After I read back the clearance and the PF started the descent, I noticed he set the altimeter to an incorrect setting that he heard ATC give another aircraft. I brought it to his attention and the correct altimeter setting was made. At the same time approach said he showed us at 8700 ft. They said that we could continue the descent to 7000 ft.
