Narrative:

We were descending to FL190 and deviating for thunderstorms in the area. Got distracted by query from ATC on how soon we could proceed to cartr intersection. First officer missed 1000 ft call and I missed altitude alert chime. So was about to ask about altimeter setting while I was leveling at FL180 when ATC asked our altitude. We acknowledged our error, climbed to FL190. No system error caused. I asked ATC if they needed a phone call on our arrival. Was told it was not necessary. No harm, no foul.
