Narrative:

We cleared customs and arrived at the gate about 15 mins late. The logbook showed an MEL and pdl item, that while minor, necessitated time to check compliance. The flight plan did not uplink so we manually loaded it. We were unfamiliar with the ICAO flight plan and questioned the clearance but thought it could be clarified by clearance delivery. First officer called them and as the controller read back cleared as filed, squawk XXXX I heard the jet bridge door close and the flight attendant called for the seatbelt sign. The first officer acknowledged the code, and thinking we were late, I called for the checklist. I had planned on confirming the clearance during the long taxi to runway 24L. After engine start first officer called for taxi and we were given runway 28, short taxi. As we approached the runway, tower cleared us to takeoff. Departure cleared us to fly 330 degrees to intercept on course. First officer was flying and as I completed the checklists center called and asked what radial we were tracking. I remembered then that I had forgotten to confirm the clearance. We had loaded dct-yul-dct-yxi and had intercepted the yul 290 degree radial on course. The clearance was dct YUL31070 dct yxi. We should have been on the 310 degree radial. I asked the controller if this created a problem and he said no. We were given a heading and later dct yxi. We were VMC and did not notice any aircraft conflicts. Lesson to be learned: when in a hurry, slow down. When in doubt, question.

Title: FLC HAD DISTRS PRIOR TO TKOF AND BECAME RUSHED. RPTR CAPT FORGOT TO CONFIRM THEIR CLRNC AND HAD ENTERED THE WRONG ROUTING INTO THE FMS. AFTER TKOF THE CTLR QUESTIONED WHAT RADIAL THEY WERE INTERCEPTING AND ISSUED A NEW CLRNC.

THE FLT PLAN DID NOT UPLINK SO WE MANUALLY LOADED IT. WE WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ICAO FLT PLAN AND QUESTIONED THE CLRNC BUT THOUGHT IT COULD BE CLARIFIED BY CLRNC DELIVERY. THE FO ACKNOWLEDGED THE CODE, AND THINKING WE WERE LATE, I CALLED FOR THE CHKLIST. I HAD PLANNED ON CONFIRMING THE CLRNC DURING THE LONG TAXI TO RWY 24L. AFTER ENG START FO CALLED FOR TAXI AND WE WERE GIVEN RWY 28, SHORT TAXI. AS WE APCHED THE RWY, TWR CLRED US TO TKOF. DEP CLRED US TO FLY 330 DEGS TO INTERCEPT ON COURSE. FO WAS FLYING AND AS I COMPLETED THE CHKLISTS CTR CALLED AND ASKED WHAT RADIAL WE WERE TRACKING. I REMEMBERED THEN THAT I HAD FORGOTTEN TO CONFIRM THE CLRNC. WE HAD LOADED DCT-YUL-DCT-YXI AND HAD INTERCEPTED THE YUL 290 DEG RADIAL ON COURSE. THE CLRNC WAS DCT YUL31070 DCT YXI. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE 310 DEG RADIAL. I ASKED THE CTLR IF THIS CREATED A PROB AND HE SAID NO. WE WERE GIVEN A HDG AND LATER DCT YXI. WE WERE VMC AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY ACFT CONFLICTS. LESSON TO BE LEARNED: WHEN IN A HURRY, SLOW DOWN. WHEN IN DOUBT, QUESTION.
