Narrative:

Over lucss, on going visual, with barely 5 mi visibility, I couldn't see the PAPI! Had to dial in ILS runway 28R. Runway 28R descent guidance until I acquired PAPI at approximately 3 mi. Presently, I prefer to fly the fmcs approach. This is because while I'm on 'map mode' and 'LNAV' flying, I can pre-tune the ILS runway 28R and use the GS as reference to determine if I'm high or low. The disadvantage of the lda runway 28R approach is that it lacks the glide path guidance.

Narrative: OVER LUCSS, ON GOING VISUAL, WITH BARELY 5 MI VISIBILITY, I COULDN'T SEE THE PAPI! HAD TO DIAL IN ILS RWY 28R. RWY 28R DSCNT GUIDANCE UNTIL I ACQUIRED PAPI AT APPROX 3 MI. PRESENTLY, I PREFER TO FLY THE FMCS APCH. THIS IS BECAUSE WHILE I'M ON 'MAP MODE' AND 'LNAV' FLYING, I CAN PRE-TUNE THE ILS RWY 28R AND USE THE GS AS REF TO DETERMINE IF I'M HIGH OR LOW. THE DISADVANTAGE OF THE LDA RWY 28R APCH IS THAT IT LACKS THE GLIDE PATH GUIDANCE.
