Narrative:

During climb, altitude assigned was 7000 ft. Throughout climb out, crew was trying to solve multiple deice/ice protection failures while in IMC. The autoplt did not engage the designated altitude pre-select of 7000 ft, and the altitude aural warning failed while passing assigned altitude of 7000 ft. ATC notified crew of altitude deviation of 3000 ft and reassigned 7000 ft and notified the crew there was no other aircraft in the immediate area, and that no safety compromise occurred. Lessons learned: both crew members can easily find themselves preoccupied with system failure(south) and need to always remember to always fly the aircraft first.
