Narrative:

Captain was flying raw data. Assigned 270 degree heading up to 8000 ft. ATC turned us to 090 degrees. Many buildups in area which we were avoiding. Altitude alert went off at 8200 ft. Captain immediately descended back to 8000 ft when clear of clouds. ATC never warned us of altitude deviation. They probably knew we were dodging the buildups. Supplemental information from acn 311328: on duty for 12 hours and 20 mins. 'I guess that is what autoplts are for, when you're tired with many mi to go.'
