Narrative:

I received departure clearance and read it back. After departure turn right 100 degrees climb to and maintain 3500 ft expect higher in 10. As I turned onto runway 19 there was a sign that said no turns until 3 DME. I was concerned about departing jet traffic so I asked tower as I started my takeoff roll if I could make my right turn before crossing runway 25. She said no that I was supposed to turn left to 100 degrees and that I couldn't turn left before I got to runway 25. I was very concerned with the departing jet traffic turbulence and about the time I read back that I couldn't climb above the path, the controller called my left turn and traffic at 2 O'clock. I was thinking about wake turbulence and looking for the traffic and not that 3500 ft was only 1200 ft above me. I expected a right turn as I was going to st george and a right turn would have kept me clear of all the incoming traffic, a left turn took me across all of the incoming private and commercial traffic. A contributing factor was that I normally fly out of sea level airports and so have 4 or 5 mins to reach 3500 ft instead of 1 1/2 mins.

Title: ALTDEV ALT OVERSHOT IN CLB.

Narrative: I RECEIVED DEP CLRNC AND READ IT BACK. AFTER DEP TURN R 100 DEGS CLB TO AND MAINTAIN 3500 FT EXPECT HIGHER IN 10. AS I TURNED ONTO RWY 19 THERE WAS A SIGN THAT SAID NO TURNS UNTIL 3 DME. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT DEPARTING JET TFC SO I ASKED TWR AS I STARTED MY TKOF ROLL IF I COULD MAKE MY R TURN BEFORE XING RWY 25. SHE SAID NO THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO TURN L TO 100 DEGS AND THAT I COULDN'T TURN L BEFORE I GOT TO RWY 25. I WAS VERY CONCERNED WITH THE DEPARTING JET TFC TURB AND ABOUT THE TIME I READ BACK THAT I COULDN'T CLB ABOVE THE PATH, THE CTLR CALLED MY L TURN AND TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK. I WAS THINKING ABOUT WAKE TURB AND LOOKING FOR THE TFC AND NOT THAT 3500 FT WAS ONLY 1200 FT ABOVE ME. I EXPECTED A R TURN AS I WAS GOING TO ST GEORGE AND A R TURN WOULD HAVE KEPT ME CLR OF ALL THE INCOMING TFC, A L TURN TOOK ME ACROSS ALL OF THE INCOMING PVT AND COMMERCIAL TFC. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS THAT I NORMALLY FLY OUT OF SEA LEVEL ARPTS AND SO HAVE 4 OR 5 MINS TO REACH 3500 FT INSTEAD OF 1 1/2 MINS.
