Narrative:

Cleared to bypass scy direct to a fix 9 mi or so beyond scy on the scy 7 arrival dfw. Due to distrs associated with prior holding, fuel calculations and unforecast fog at dfw and alternate love, the first officer omitted to press the navigation button and clearance was in non compliance for about 3 mins.
