Narrative:

We were on downwind to atl runway 26R, heading 090 degrees magnetic, 6000 ft MSL, at 160 KTS, flaps 11 degrees. Our aircraft is an md-88. Atl approach called traffic at 12 O'clock and told us to immediately turn right to 180 degrees and descend to 5000 ft. Concurrently we received a TCASII RA that told us to climb. Since I had the traffic visually I came completely off instruments to keep traffic in sight. We disregarded TCASII climb RA, obeyed atl approach, turned right and descended 1000 ft. An (air carrier Y) brasilia turboprop was going counter to the atl runway 26R downwind at about 6000 ft MSL. He passed about 500 ft directly over us.

Title: NMAC BTWN AN ARRIVING MLG AND A DEPARTING LTT INSIDE CLASS B AIRSPACE.

Narrative: WE WERE ON DOWNWIND TO ATL RWY 26R, HDG 090 DEGS MAGNETIC, 6000 FT MSL, AT 160 KTS, FLAPS 11 DEGS. OUR ACFT IS AN MD-88. ATL APCH CALLED TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK AND TOLD US TO IMMEDIATELY TURN R TO 180 DEGS AND DSND TO 5000 FT. CONCURRENTLY WE RECEIVED A TCASII RA THAT TOLD US TO CLB. SINCE I HAD THE TFC VISUALLY I CAME COMPLETELY OFF INSTS TO KEEP TFC IN SIGHT. WE DISREGARDED TCASII CLB RA, OBEYED ATL APCH, TURNED R AND DSNDED 1000 FT. AN (ACR Y) BRASILIA TURBOPROP WAS GOING COUNTER TO THE ATL RWY 26R DOWNWIND AT ABOUT 6000 FT MSL. HE PASSED ABOUT 500 FT DIRECTLY OVER US.
