Narrative:

Our flight departed runway 17 at myrtle beach and climbed to 2000 ft on 170 degree heading. Departure control gave us a climbing turn to 10000 ft and 320 degrees. As we climbed through 2500 ft and in a turn through 200 degrees, our TCASII alerted us to a traffic conflict at our 4 O'clock and 1000 ft above us at 3500 ft sbound. I looked for the traffic and saw the aircraft at 3 O'clock. By then TCASII told us to 'don't climb.' ATC then pointed out the VFR traffic to us and we said we could maintain visual. We maintained our heading to parallel the traffic and accelerate to a safe distance before climbing through the intruder's altitude. ATC did their job well but I wish they would have idented or pointed out traffic sooner. The TCASII worked very well. I hate to be without it.

Title: ACR MLG HAD TCASII 'DON'T CLB' ALERT ON INITIAL CLBOUT. ATC POINTED OUT TFC. THERE WAS NO DANGEROUS CONFLICT OR EVASIVE ACTION TAKEN.

Narrative: OUR FLT DEPARTED RWY 17 AT MYRTLE BEACH AND CLBED TO 2000 FT ON 170 DEG HDG. DEP CTL GAVE US A CLBING TURN TO 10000 FT AND 320 DEGS. AS WE CLBED THROUGH 2500 FT AND IN A TURN THROUGH 200 DEGS, OUR TCASII ALERTED US TO A TFC CONFLICT AT OUR 4 O'CLOCK AND 1000 FT ABOVE US AT 3500 FT SBOUND. I LOOKED FOR THE TFC AND SAW THE ACFT AT 3 O'CLOCK. BY THEN TCASII TOLD US TO 'DON'T CLB.' ATC THEN POINTED OUT THE VFR TFC TO US AND WE SAID WE COULD MAINTAIN VISUAL. WE MAINTAINED OUR HDG TO PARALLEL THE TFC AND ACCELERATE TO A SAFE DISTANCE BEFORE CLBING THROUGH THE INTRUDER'S ALT. ATC DID THEIR JOB WELL BUT I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE IDENTED OR POINTED OUT TFC SOONER. THE TCASII WORKED VERY WELL. I HATE TO BE WITHOUT IT.
