Narrative:

Passenger in seat X4 boarded wearing a face shield. I told her a face mask was required as well. She argued and said it says 'face covering.' I said; 'it's vague yes; but simply means like mask or scarf.' I told flight attendant B and pilots. Pilots said; '...face shields alone are not okay...' [but did not enforce]. I'd suggest not using the wording 'face covering' I'd state 'mask.'
