Narrative:

On landing roll out at high speed tower asked us to exit at an unreasonable location because traffic was too close behind us. This created a potential safety issue in the cockpit. At high speed we were trying to discuss the new turn off; resolve the transfer of aircraft control while tower was asking us if we could make it and wanting a response. This request should have been transmitted on final; not on high speed roll out. I don't care if the aircraft behind us has to go around. Maybe he should not be so close. My only concern is to the safety of my aircraft; crew; and passengers and that was strained on this landing. I talked to the tower supervisor on the phone afterward but he didn't seem very concerned and certainly didn't understand the hazard. He was more concerned with avoiding the go around. We were unable to make the required turn off without blowing tires and barely made the next one. I thought we were not to be issued taxi instructions while in the high speed environment.
