Narrative:

We were cleared for a visual approach and told to maintain 180 KTS. I configured flaps to 5 position and landing gear down. At about 5 mi and 2000' MSL, my first officer said, 'what's that,' as he looked past me out my left window. I saw widebody transport Y to my left, same altitude about 100' away on a parallel course, yet closing on my position. I applied power, climbed and turned slightly right and kept him in sight as he passed below and slightly aft of my left wing. He corrected back left and we both flew our simultaneous approach to lndgs on 28L and 28R, respectively. Medium large transport Y had been told to keep me in sight and it appeared he failed to do so and maneuvered into my airspace.

Title: ACR MLG AND ACR WDB, ON VISUAL APCHS TO PARALLEL RWYS COME IN CLOSE PROX REQUIRING EVASIVE ACTION BY ACR MLG.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH AND TOLD TO MAINTAIN 180 KTS. I CONFIGURED FLAPS TO 5 POS AND LNDG GEAR DOWN. AT ABOUT 5 MI AND 2000' MSL, MY FO SAID, 'WHAT'S THAT,' AS HE LOOKED PAST ME OUT MY LEFT WINDOW. I SAW WDB Y TO MY LEFT, SAME ALT ABOUT 100' AWAY ON A PARALLEL COURSE, YET CLOSING ON MY POS. I APPLIED POWER, CLBED AND TURNED SLIGHTLY RIGHT AND KEPT HIM IN SIGHT AS HE PASSED BELOW AND SLIGHTLY AFT OF MY LEFT WING. HE CORRECTED BACK LEFT AND WE BOTH FLEW OUR SIMULTANEOUS APCH TO LNDGS ON 28L AND 28R, RESPECTIVELY. MLG Y HAD BEEN TOLD TO KEEP ME IN SIGHT AND IT APPEARED HE FAILED TO DO SO AND MANEUVERED INTO MY AIRSPACE.
