Narrative:

Having been cleared for a visual approach to runway 24 by ZNY. I positioned the aircraft for a 2 mi left base for runway 24. We contacted bdr tower and were told to report a 2 mi base for runway 24. Airspeed at this time was about 180 KTS indicated. When we reached a 2 mi base we called tower and were given a cleared to land by tower. Also at this time my first officer was having extreme difficulty in reading the proper before landing check he has only been with the company for 1 month. At this time I asked him to complete the checklist. I also began a turn to final for what I thought was runway 24. After completing the check myself and landing the airplane, I was notified by tower that we had in fact landed on runway 28 instead of runway 24.
