Narrative:

After approaching lax form the north and passing over santa monica VOR, lax approach cleared us for the visibility approach runway 25R, and handed us over to lax tower as we turned base leg. As an instrument back up we had the ILS 25L tuned in. On short final for runway 25L we realized our error and started a go around procedure. At this point we asked if we could be cleared to land 25L instead, she acknowledged and we landed west/O incident. Supplemental information from acn 104388: we experienced a master warning light telling us a circuit breaker tripped. Our distraction caused us to forget about sidestepping to our runway. Lax tower cleared an airplane on to 25L for takeoff. The airplane held short and asked about us on short final to 25L. The tower responded we were cleared to land on 25R, then saw us on short final to 25L and reclred us to land on 25L and told the other aircraft to remain holding short.
