Narrative:
At approximately 2;500 ft climbing we got a fwd cargo door ECAM message and open cargo door symbol on the doors system page. Returned via a visual approach and landed approximately 1;900 pounds overweight with a smooth touchdown and return to gate. Aircraft was inspected for overweight landing and cargo door was inspected for integrity/security and MEL deferral was issued for false indication. Flight departed 1:20 late a second time; received the same ECAM at the same point; but pilots complied with the deferral and continued on to destination.
