Narrative:
On initial climb out from msp, 'smoke aft cargo,' message with associated warnings illuminated. ECAM/cockpit operating manual procedures complied with. Emergency was declared and return to msp initiated. Arff inspected aircraft. Advised flight crew of no smoke/fire detected or observed. Aircraft proceeded to gate for further inspection/investigation. Flight crew was advised another A320 the night before had a similar incident. These false smoke warnings may be a problem with the A320 fleetwise, and incidents should be tracked.
