Narrative:

My partner and I installed the # 3 main landing gear (medium large transport) tire and brake assemblies per the maintenance manual (MM). We used the maintenance manual and torqued the brake with a torque wrench and used the proper sequence. It was brought to my attention that the brake and axle assembly were part of a report that the brake and wheel assembly had left the aircraft on landing due to a fractured axle that had started from the brake attach flange. It was not said that my partner and myself were being reprimanded for any wrong doing. During a fact finding meeting we were the last to install the brake assembly. The tire assembly was recently removed and replaced (right/right). The fact finding meeting could not confirmed what and why the gear broke other than where the crack was.
