Narrative:
Installed brake for number-3 wheel incorrectly. First time doing a brake; didn't know that I could switch fittings with safety wire to other end of brake. Plane did not fly. Went back out with inspector to correct the mistake. [Recommend] providing more training and make sure someone is there to help out with first time installs.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: Two Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) report they had Removed and incorrectly Replaced (R/R) # 3 Brake Assembly on the Right Main Landing Gear (MLG) of a DHC-8-200 aircraft. Lack of training; first time experience and lack of detail in Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) were noted. An Aircraft Inspector assisted with correcting brake installation prior to departure.
