Narrative:
Responded to TCAS RA -- lax upon approach lax -- cleared for visual to runway 25L; gear down; flaps 20 on glideslope. At 1900 ft TCAS gave 'traffic' advisory. Target showed up on screen; indicated -400 ft approximately; 11 o'clock; 1 mile. Closing target not in sight. At -300 ft TCAS gave RA to 'climb.' first officer initiated climb. Captain informed tower. Tower gave VFR instructions to climb to 2000 ft. Target indicated -200 ft underneath aircraft as we flew over target. No aircraft sighted by crew or tower. Upon second approach at 2000 ft on glideslope; TCAS briefly gave an indication of traffic again at the same location showing -1900 ft; 11 o'clock; 1 mile. Target then disappeared. Area of target seemed to be near a high school sports field on final approach. No aircraft or other activity noted.

Title: An air carrier Crew on final approach to LAX Runway 25L reported a TCAS RA at 1;900 FT on final. After executing a go-around and a second approach to Runway 25R; a TCAS target was again seen at the same position but no traffic sighted.
