Narrative:
Descending into roa for a visual approach to runway 34; the GPWS provided an aural warning of terrain. To accommodate ATC and terrain to the south of the airport we remained high initially; but began a descent once cleared for the visual approach. The use of electronic means of glideslope for the ILS to 34 were used to back up the visual approach. About 7 DME the GPWS advised the terrain and the flight crew adjusted its flight path.
Original NASA ASRS Text
