Narrative:

We landed runway 35 at phl. While rolling out; the captain began to brake firmly to make a left turn on taxiway golf. Tower instructed us to; 'exit the high speed; spot xx; and contact ramp.' I acknowledged and understood the clearance. We exited at E-3 (the high speed) and the captain started to turn onto taxiway echo. I told him we needed to go on to the ramp and pointed to spot xx. The captain replied; 'no; they don't want us to go in there;' and proceeded onto taxiway echo. At that point I called ramp and said we were on 'echo for gate #.' ramp told us to 'enter the ramp at hotel taxi to gate #.' I was not at all surprised as we approached the gate that we were told to contact ground. In hindsight; I should have contacted ground on my own when I realized the captain wasn't going to comply with our clearance. It happened kind of quickly because the captain didn't want to slow down or stop prior to turning to clarify the situation and the last instruction I heard was contact ramp.
