Narrative:

About 9 months after a class ii physical; a regular company required physical examination detected that I had an arterial fibrillation condition. I went to a cardiologist as suggested. The condition was controled with medication. He said that I joined the other 2.3 million americans with this condition. I asked him about flying. He said that my condition was not of any concern relative to my flying. The medications are on the approved list. Thus; I continued to fly. I let my class ii physical lapse to become a class III as I had often done since I don't fly as a commercial pilot anymore. When I went for a new physical; the AME gave me a list of medical information that I needed to obtain from the cardiologist. He said he would have to send it in with my medical application. That information was sent with the application a few weeks later in april 2006. I heard nothing from oklahoma city until jun/xa/06 acknowledging receipt of the medical application sent in april! On jun/xk/06 I received a request for more medical information as well as a request to '...provide a personal statement regarding the 210 hours of logged flight time after a diagnosis of a disqualifying general medical condition; arterial fibrillation; in violation under title 14; code of FARS (crash fire rescue equipment's) revised part 61.53.' I was never aware that this condition is a problem relative to my flying and I still am not aware that it is. I had no outward symptoms prior to the medical detection of the condition nor have I experienced any symptoms or problems since then. Inasmuch as the cardiologist advised me that this was not a problem for me there is no violation of the regulation.
