Narrative:

Departing slc on the FAIRFIELD6 departure climbing through 15000 ft; ATC asked us our speed and we replied 300 KTS. ATC told us that speed should be 250 KTS. Nowhere in the 10-3 page on the fairfield departure does it say to maintain 250 KTS. This speed should be added to the commercial 10-3 page. The pre departure clearance states; 'maintain 10000 ft do not exceed 250 KTS.' the captain and I both thought that is what we always do below 10000 ft. I suggest the pre departure clearance should be changed to state; 'maintain 10000 ft do not exceed 250 KTS until advised.'

Title: AN MD80 CREW REMARKS THAT SLC TRACON EXPECTS FLTS 250 KTS FOR DEPS UNTIL ADVISED; BUT NEITHER THE FFU6 DEP NOR THE PDC STATES A RESTRICTED SPD ABOVE 10000 FT.

Narrative: DEPARTING SLC ON THE FAIRFIELD6 DEP CLBING THROUGH 15000 FT; ATC ASKED US OUR SPD AND WE REPLIED 300 KTS. ATC TOLD US THAT SPD SHOULD BE 250 KTS. NOWHERE IN THE 10-3 PAGE ON THE FAIRFIELD DEP DOES IT SAY TO MAINTAIN 250 KTS. THIS SPD SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE COMMERCIAL 10-3 PAGE. THE PDC STATES; 'MAINTAIN 10000 FT DO NOT EXCEED 250 KTS.' THE CAPT AND I BOTH THOUGHT THAT IS WHAT WE ALWAYS DO BELOW 10000 FT. I SUGGEST THE PDC SHOULD BE CHANGED TO STATE; 'MAINTAIN 10000 FT DO NOT EXCEED 250 KTS UNTIL ADVISED.'
