Narrative:

Myself and co-worker were working overtime for line/routine overnight on aircraft/overnight check. We had an entire ship's set of oxygen generators to right&right. Around XA15 our plane arrived at the hangar for 'C' check. We were told the hangar was the location of work that night. We had to get a supervisor to sign for the oxygen generators and I went and carried them up into the plane; while co-worker checked the braking; tires; lights of the aircraft. He came upstairs to begin working with me on the generators; because he mentioned the overnight part could wait to be finished later. As we tried to individually work the generators; it was apparent that working together we would be able to be more progress; faster. After we worked out a process we stopped only to order the 4 generators in the flight attendant galleys and lavatories when mr X noticed the generator 1 of the 4 were missing -- the old one. He spent about 1 1/2 hours looking on the plane; the hangar before being told it was at the computer in the hangar by stores. We continued to work intensely until I heard someone call mr X on the handheld radio and tell him that a last min change required that was to be used earlier than scheduled. Original flight time was to be from gate xx at XC55. Now management wanted this aircraft at gate xy to be flown at XA15. I heard mr X say they wanted the aircraft at the gate 30 mins prior to its flight time. Then I heard mr X say to me that we needed to be at the gate in 18 minutes. We had to put everything -- parts; tools; trash -- off the plane as soon as possible. I made separate piles of old generators; one had the parts tag finished; one group of generators parts tag were not completed. I gathered both groups in boxes now and carried them off the plane to a table in the hangar across from stores window. We then went back to the plane and right&right'ed the left main 'left.left.' after this; we taxied the aircraft to gate and as I opened the forward entry door; the crew members rushed on as if the crew had been waiting for its arrival. I mentioned that I would do a final walkthrough but he insisted that he be the one to do the walkthrough. After walked to the front of the aircraft we left and went back to the hangar. I had about 20-30 generator tags to complete and I started to complete them when a lead who brought us back to the hangar offered to help me. Sometime as we were filling out these tags; someone on the radio told that some of the generators were left on the aircraft. The crew had called our line mechanics to come and get the parts off the plane; and they did. I received a letter in my mail box that there would be a fact finding. It mentions to include what I believe caused the event and what can be done to prevent a recurrence of this happening again. I don't think assigning 2 people to right&right a complete ship's set is wise. It is an incredible amount of work for 2 people; not including the check also. Also; by giving us maybe 20 mins notice to be at the gate made the last few mins rushed.

Title: A B737-300 HAD A ROUTINE OVERNIGHT CHK TO BE ACCOMPLISHED. IN ADDITION AN ENTIRE SHIP'S SET OF OXYGEN GENERATORS WERE TO BE REPLACED. THIS ENTIRE WORKLOAD WAS ASSIGNED TO 2 TECHNICIANS. EARLY GATE DELIVERY RESULTED IN SOME OXYGEN GENERATORS LEFT ON BOARD. REMOVED PRIOR TO DEP.

Narrative: MYSELF AND CO-WORKER WERE WORKING OVERTIME FOR LINE/ROUTINE OVERNIGHT ON ACFT/OVERNIGHT CHK. WE HAD AN ENTIRE SHIP'S SET OF OXYGEN GENERATORS TO R&R. AROUND XA15 OUR PLANE ARRIVED AT THE HANGAR FOR 'C' CHK. WE WERE TOLD THE HANGAR WAS THE LOCATION OF WORK THAT NIGHT. WE HAD TO GET A SUPVR TO SIGN FOR THE OXYGEN GENERATORS AND I WENT AND CARRIED THEM UP INTO THE PLANE; WHILE CO-WORKER CHKED THE BRAKING; TIRES; LIGHTS OF THE ACFT. AFTER WE WORKED OUT A PROCESS WE STOPPED ONLY TO ORDER THE 4 GENERATORS IN THE FLT ATTENDANT GALLEYS AND LAVATORIES WHEN MR X NOTICED THE GENERATOR 1 OF THE 4 WERE MISSING -- THE OLD ONE. HE SPENT ABOUT 1 1/2 HRS LOOKING ON THE PLANE; THE HANGAR BEFORE BEING TOLD IT WAS AT THE COMPUTER IN THE HANGAR BY STORES. WE CONTINUED TO WORK INTENSELY UNTIL I HEARD SOMEONE CALL MR X ON THE HANDHELD RADIO AND TELL HIM THAT A LAST MIN CHANGE REQUIRED THAT WAS TO BE USED EARLIER THAN SCHEDULED. ORIGINAL FLT TIME WAS TO BE FROM GATE XX AT XC55. NOW MGMNT WANTED THIS ACFT AT GATE XY TO BE FLOWN AT XA15. I HEARD MR X SAY THEY WANTED THE ACFT AT THE GATE 30 MINS PRIOR TO ITS FLT TIME. THEN I HEARD MR X SAY TO ME THAT WE NEEDED TO BE AT THE GATE IN 18 MINUTES. WE HAD TO PUT EVERYTHING -- PARTS; TOOLS; TRASH -- OFF THE PLANE ASAP. WE THEN WENT BACK TO THE PLANE AND R&R'ED THE L MAIN 'L.L.' AFTER THIS; WE TAXIED THE ACFT TO GATE AND AS I OPENED THE FORWARD ENTRY DOOR; THE CREW MEMBERS RUSHED ON AS IF THE CREW HAD BEEN WAITING FOR ITS ARR. I MENTIONED THAT I WOULD DO A FINAL WALKTHROUGH BUT HE INSISTED THAT HE BE THE ONE TO DO THE WALKTHROUGH. AFTER WALKED TO THE FRONT OF THE ACFT WE LEFT AND WENT BACK TO THE HANGAR. I HAD ABOUT 20-30 GENERATOR TAGS TO COMPLETE AND I STARTED TO COMPLETE THEM WHEN A LEAD WHO BROUGHT US BACK TO THE HANGAR OFFERED TO HELP ME. SOMETIME AS WE WERE FILLING OUT THESE TAGS; SOMEONE ON THE RADIO TOLD THAT SOME OF THE GENERATORS WERE LEFT ON THE ACFT. THE CREW HAD CALLED OUR LINE MECHS TO COME AND GET THE PARTS OFF THE PLANE; AND THEY DID. I RECEIVED A LETTER IN MY MAIL BOX THAT THERE WOULD BE A FACT FINDING. IT MENTIONS TO INCLUDE WHAT I BELIEVE CAUSED THE EVENT AND WHAT CAN BE DONE TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. I DON'T THINK ASSIGNING 2 PEOPLE TO R&R A COMPLETE SHIP'S SET IS WISE. IT IS AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF WORK FOR 2 PEOPLE; NOT INCLUDING THE CHK ALSO. ALSO; BY GIVING US MAYBE 20 MINS NOTICE TO BE AT THE GATE MADE THE LAST FEW MINS RUSHED.
