Narrative:

Taxi from gate to hold short of runway 12L on taxiway D. Approaching 12L ground told us to monitor tower. Holding short of runway 12L, tower told us to taxi to runway 12R. We crossed runway 17 and held short of runway 12R. We saw no hold lines of any signs indicating where to hold for 12R. Nor is there any information in the communication charts about where to hold for runway 12R. Tower informed us in flight that the hold line was 20 yrs back from runway. This would put it east of runway 17, if it exists at all. There was no runway incursion on to runway 12R. The tower controller informed us that not to worry about it, that he just wanted to let us know about it. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: during callback to reporter, reporter stated that they never did see any sign for runway 12R. Reporter feels that there should be better signage and that the hold line should be depicted on the charts. Reporter was told by tower that the hold line for runway 12R is combined with runway 17 and that a lot of pilots make the same mistake.

Title: A CL-65 FLT CREW FAIL TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 12R AT HOU.

Narrative: TAXI FROM GATE TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 12L ON TXWY D. APCHING 12L GND TOLD US TO MONITOR TWR. HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 12L, TWR TOLD US TO TAXI TO RWY 12R. WE CROSSED RWY 17 AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 12R. WE SAW NO HOLD LINES OF ANY SIGNS INDICATING WHERE TO HOLD FOR 12R. NOR IS THERE ANY INFO IN THE COM CHARTS ABOUT WHERE TO HOLD FOR RWY 12R. TWR INFORMED US IN FLT THAT THE HOLD LINE WAS 20 YRS BACK FROM RWY. THIS WOULD PUT IT E OF RWY 17, IF IT EXISTS AT ALL. THERE WAS NO RWY INCURSION ON TO RWY 12R. THE TWR CTLR INFORMED US THAT NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT, THAT HE JUST WANTED TO LET US KNOW ABOUT IT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: DURING CALLBACK TO RPTR, RPTR STATED THAT THEY NEVER DID SEE ANY SIGN FOR RWY 12R. RPTR FEELS THAT THERE SHOULD BE BETTER SIGNAGE AND THAT THE HOLD LINE SHOULD BE DEPICTED ON THE CHARTS. RPTR WAS TOLD BY TWR THAT THE HOLD LINE FOR RWY 12R IS COMBINED WITH RWY 17 AND THAT A LOT OF PLTS MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.
