Narrative:

We were taxing from the airline ramp to runway 35 for takeoff. After holding short of runway 34R at H6 we were cleared to cross runway 34R and taxiway Q, runway 32, hold short of runway 35. A snowstorm had just cleared but no snow had stuck to the runways or txwys. The visibility was good, but it was dark. Runway 35 is not used very often by air carrier's and I checked the airport taxi chart to make sure we knew where we were going. This chart does not depict the hold short lines for runway 35 or any runway. This didn't even come into my mind because I assumed the lines would be parallel to runways 35 at the intersection of runways 35 and 32. After the occurrence I looked at the taxi chart again as well as the low visibility chart and found that the hold short lines for runway 35 cross runway 32 at the approach end. Flying in the next day I saw the hold short lines just above the numbers 32 on that runway. Taxiing down runway 32 approaching runway 35 the captain called for the before takeoff checklist. After finishing the checklist I looked up just as the captain slowed the airplane and said he thought we were at the runway. He immediately stopped the airplane as the solid white edge line of runway 35 appeared in our taxi light. We were a couple feet short of the runway edge line but had crossed the hold short line without either of us seeing it. A king air on short final initiated a go around and tower came on the radio and told him to go around and asked us if we were holding short of the runway. I told tower that we were holding short of the runway edge line but that we hadn't seen a hold short line to hold short of. After a short period of time tower cleared us for takeoff and we departed. The captain and I talked about it and decided we must have crossed the hold short line while I was reading the checklist and he was verifying an indication inside the flight deck for a response. To correct this and keep it from happening again I will look on the chart for the hold short line when taxiing to an unfamiliar runway as well as looking at the chart to see the proper direction to go.

Title: FLT CREW OF CL65, DISTRACTED BY READING BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST, CROSSED HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 35 AT SLC WHILE TAXIING ON RWY 32.

Narrative: WE WERE TAXING FROM THE AIRLINE RAMP TO RWY 35 FOR TKOF. AFTER HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 34R AT H6 WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 34R AND TXWY Q, RWY 32, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 35. A SNOWSTORM HAD JUST CLRED BUT NO SNOW HAD STUCK TO THE RWYS OR TXWYS. THE VISIBILITY WAS GOOD, BUT IT WAS DARK. RWY 35 IS NOT USED VERY OFTEN BY ACR'S AND I CHKED THE ARPT TAXI CHART TO MAKE SURE WE KNEW WHERE WE WERE GOING. THIS CHART DOES NOT DEPICT THE HOLD SHORT LINES FOR RWY 35 OR ANY RWY. THIS DIDN'T EVEN COME INTO MY MIND BECAUSE I ASSUMED THE LINES WOULD BE PARALLEL TO RWYS 35 AT THE INTXN OF RWYS 35 AND 32. AFTER THE OCCURRENCE I LOOKED AT THE TAXI CHART AGAIN AS WELL AS THE LOW VISIBILITY CHART AND FOUND THAT THE HOLD SHORT LINES FOR RWY 35 CROSS RWY 32 AT THE APCH END. FLYING IN THE NEXT DAY I SAW THE HOLD SHORT LINES JUST ABOVE THE NUMBERS 32 ON THAT RWY. TAXIING DOWN RWY 32 APCHING RWY 35 THE CAPT CALLED FOR THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST. AFTER FINISHING THE CHKLIST I LOOKED UP JUST AS THE CAPT SLOWED THE AIRPLANE AND SAID HE THOUGHT WE WERE AT THE RWY. HE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE AIRPLANE AS THE SOLID WHITE EDGE LINE OF RWY 35 APPEARED IN OUR TAXI LIGHT. WE WERE A COUPLE FEET SHORT OF THE RWY EDGE LINE BUT HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE WITHOUT EITHER OF US SEEING IT. A KING AIR ON SHORT FINAL INITIATED A GAR AND TWR CAME ON THE RADIO AND TOLD HIM TO GO AROUND AND ASKED US IF WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY. I TOLD TWR THAT WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY EDGE LINE BUT THAT WE HADN'T SEEN A HOLD SHORT LINE TO HOLD SHORT OF. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF AND WE DEPARTED. THE CAPT AND I TALKED ABOUT IT AND DECIDED WE MUST HAVE CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE WHILE I WAS READING THE CHKLIST AND HE WAS VERIFYING AN INDICATION INSIDE THE FLT DECK FOR A RESPONSE. TO CORRECT THIS AND KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN I WILL LOOK ON THE CHART FOR THE HOLD SHORT LINE WHEN TAXIING TO AN UNFAMILIAR RWY AS WELL AS LOOKING AT THE CHART TO SEE THE PROPER DIRECTION TO GO.
