Narrative:
Aircraft #1 received a clearance at blf. Aircraft #2 departed VFR to receive IFR clearance airborne. I became busy with other duties and forgot to protect the non radar airspace for aircraft #1. I thought aircraft #2 would be out of the way and not a factor. I asked for help at the sector, but it took a while. I didn't have time to monitor the situation at blf and aircraft #1 departed and caught aircraft #2.

Title: A ZID ARTCC RADAR CTLR FAILED TO PROTECT AIRSPACE FOR A C172 ACFT OFF BLF, AN UNCTLED ARPT.
Narrative: ACFT #1 RECEIVED A CLRNC AT BLF. ACFT #2 DEPARTED VFR TO RECEIVE IFR CLRNC AIRBORNE. I BECAME BUSY WITH OTHER DUTIES AND FORGOT TO PROTECT THE NON RADAR AIRSPACE FOR ACFT #1. I THOUGHT ACFT #2 WOULD BE OUT OF THE WAY AND NOT A FACTOR. I ASKED FOR HELP AT THE SECTOR, BUT IT TOOK A WHILE. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO MONITOR THE SIT AT BLF AND ACFT #1 DEPARTED AND CAUGHT ACFT #2.
