Narrative:

We were cleared into position and hold runway 36R. Both the first officer and I noticed an airplane on short final. We weren't 100% sure he was lined up with runway 36L or runway 36R. As we approached the hold short line, it became clear that he was on final for runway 36R. We told tower that we were going to hold short and did so. Afterwards, tower told us and an eagle to hold short. I feel certain that if we had not held short on our own, there would have been a conflict.
