Narrative:

Near error, taxi operations. On taxi in to gate from landing runway 28, I was taxiing counterclockwise on the outer taxiway P. When rounding the corner, intersection taxiway P and runway 4/22, I almost sailed right through the intersection straight ahead onto runway 22. I braked in time and made the turn at the intersection fillet but the wingtip of my aircraft went probably 5 ft over the hold short line. Runway 4/22 was not active at the time and there was no incident and no comment from any controller. However, I was very lucky that the circumstances were not such that a real runway incursion would have taken place. The first officer was properly accomplishing his after landing checklist items and duties. The responsibility for this dismal near deal is mine in its entirety. The reason is apparent to me -- complacency on my part due to many yrs of flying in and out of this airport more than 5 yrs prior. I learned a cheap lesson and will vow to never apply any standard of attention less than I would apply at any airport -- no matter how familiar, no matter what the situation.

RWY 4/22 WAS NOT ACTIVE AT THE TIME AND THERE WAS NO INCIDENT AND NO COMMENT FROM ANY CTLR. HOWEVER, I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE NOT SUCH THAT A REAL RWY INCURSION WOULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE. THE FO WAS PROPERLY ACCOMPLISHING HIS AFTER LNDG CHKLIST ITEMS AND DUTIES. THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DISMAL NEAR DEAL IS MINE IN ITS ENTIRETY. THE REASON IS APPARENT TO ME -- COMPLACENCY ON MY PART DUE TO MANY YRS OF FLYING IN AND OUT OF THIS ARPT MORE THAN 5 YRS PRIOR. I LEARNED A CHEAP LESSON AND WILL VOW TO NEVER APPLY ANY STANDARD OF ATTN LESS THAN I WOULD APPLY AT ANY ARPT -- NO MATTER HOW FAMILIAR, NO MATTER WHAT THE SIT.
