Narrative:

While on vector for visual approach to runway 33L at bwi, controller turned us to 270 degrees and slow to 210 KTS. All 3 crew members heard this instruction. Heading selections were changed to 270 degrees and airspeed bugs set to 210 KTS. Controller called us and told us to turn back to 180 degrees to sequence behind arriving B737 and slow to 170 KTS. We completed the turn, slowed down and landed without further problems. Afterwards, we discussed the situation on the ground and believed he meant to say, 'turn to 210 degrees and slow to 170 KTS.' no further problems noted. We read back the original instructions of 270 degree heading and 210 KT airspeed.
