Narrative:

On vectors off sxc into sna, descending from 6000 ft MSL to 5000 ft MSL at 250 KTS. Socal asked what our airspeed was. Captain responded '250 KTS.' socal responded back 'below class B reduce speed to 200 KTS.' I immediately reduced power to near idle and began slowing aircraft. Situational/positional awareness would have prevented this occurrence.

Title: CPR CREW EXCEEDS MAX SPD BELOW THE CLASS B AIRSPACE NEAR SNA, CA.

Narrative: ON VECTORS OFF SXC INTO SNA, DSNDING FROM 6000 FT MSL TO 5000 FT MSL AT 250 KTS. SOCAL ASKED WHAT OUR AIRSPD WAS. CAPT RESPONDED '250 KTS.' SOCAL RESPONDED BACK 'BELOW CLASS B REDUCE SPD TO 200 KTS.' I IMMEDIATELY REDUCED PWR TO NEAR IDLE AND BEGAN SLOWING ACFT. SITUATIONAL/POSITIONAL AWARENESS WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS OCCURRENCE.
