Narrative:
Our computer ARTS III program is supposed to automatically track departures. In a 30 min period, 3 separate departures did not tag up. I had to force the beacon code into the ARTS system so they would tag. This is an ongoing problem at clt. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that a technical support group from the washington office came to the facility and worked 5 days on the problem. The local technician believed the problem with the ARTS system. It turned out to be a computer equipment failure.

Title: RPTR WORKING DEP CTL STATES HE WAS REQUIRED TO FORCE BEACON CODE INTO COMPUTER TO START TRACK ON 3 DEPS.
Narrative: OUR COMPUTER ARTS III PROGRAM IS SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY TRACK DEPS. IN A 30 MIN PERIOD, 3 SEPARATE DEPS DID NOT TAG UP. I HAD TO FORCE THE BEACON CODE INTO THE ARTS SYS SO THEY WOULD TAG. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROB AT CLT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT A TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP FROM THE WASHINGTON OFFICE CAME TO THE FACILITY AND WORKED 5 DAYS ON THE PROB. THE LCL TECHNICIAN BELIEVED THE PROB WITH THE ARTS SYS. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A COMPUTER EQUIP FAILURE.
