Narrative:

En route from awg to srq at 17500 ft, attempted to call tpa approach when at 10500 ft class B approval. No contacts until near srq. Saw large jet descending at 11 O'clock position and 500 ft lower. Finally contacted srq tower, who in turn had me contact tpa approach, then vectored for descent for landing.

Title: A CESSNA 414 PLT HAD AN AIRLINER PASS 500 FT BELOW HIS ACFT NEAR SRQ.

Narrative: ENRTE FROM AWG TO SRQ AT 17500 FT, ATTEMPTED TO CALL TPA APCH WHEN AT 10500 FT CLASS B APPROVAL. NO CONTACTS UNTIL NEAR SRQ. SAW LARGE JET DSNDING AT 11 O'CLOCK POS AND 500 FT LOWER. FINALLY CONTACTED SRQ TWR, WHO IN TURN HAD ME CONTACT TPA APCH, THEN VECTORED FOR DSCNT FOR LNDG.
