Narrative:

I was riding as a passenger on a trip from dayton, oh, to oshkosh, wi. During the transition around the chi class B, the PIC misidented his position as kenosha rather than waukegan. The PIC called kenosha, requested to transition through and was given clearance through kenosha. Upon hearing tower give traffic to use for runways that did not exist below us, I realized we weren't where he thought we were. By the time I had explained his error to him we had exited the waukegan class D. The pilot, a private with instrument rating, then advised kenosha of our correct position.
