Narrative:

Boids 5 arrival -- given crossing restr of FL240 at 50 mi northwest of bpr. Failed to make restr due to beginning descent too late. Passing FL290, controller asked if we would make crossing. Advised ATC that we would be unable. ATC asked if we could make crossing at rhome intersection at 9000 ft. Advised ATC that we would make that crossing restr. Crew was discussing local winds at dfw and accomplishing normal pre-descent checks at the time when descent should have been started. Descent was begun late. Crossing would have been approximately FL260 instead of FL240.
