Narrative:

Departed runway 5 at 44J spruce creek airport and turned left while calling ATC to pick up IFR clearance. Aircraft entered class C airspace before clearance was issued. Controller brought this to my attention. This turn resulted in entering class C airspace before establishing radio contact. There was no apparent traffic conflict. This event was caused by unfamiliarity with the area (I arrived at night while IFR) and by inadequate preflight planning. I did not expect to enter class C so quickly after departure.
